Course overview
AET is a widely used starting qualification for new trainers. It introduces the responsibilities of a teacher or trainer, inclusive learning, session planning, assessment and practical delivery. It can also form part of the wider pathway for people who want to deliver SIA licence-linked training.

You should be able to participate in a practical teaching activity.
No previous teaching role is usually required, but course-specific awarding organisation requirements will be confirmed before enrolment.
For SIA licence-linked training, the SIA accepts Level 3 AET or a recognised equivalent teaching/training qualification as part of the general trainer requirements. Specialist units such as conflict management and physical intervention require additional qualifications.
